About Us

OUR MISSION
Founded in 1985, the Federation of Canadian Turkish Associations (KTDF) is the largest umbrella organization representing approximately 200,000 Canadians of Turkish origin, with 17 member associations spanning from Victoria to Quebec. The federation's founding principle is to foster unity, cooperation, and harmony among Turkish associations in Canada, protecting the rights and interests of our society and securing a strong position within Canada's multicultural landscape.
The main objectives of KTDF are twofold:
To ensure that Turkish Canadians play a more visible and active role in the social, cultural, economic and political life of Canadian society; and to contribute to the development of Canada-Türkiye relations.
To raise public awareness against false perceptions and information by providing the Canadian public with a balanced, accurate and fact-based perspective on Türkiye and Turkish society.
OUR ACTIVITIES
In line with our mission, KTDF carries out a wide range of activities:
Cultural Programs: To promote and preserve the richness of Turkish culture through national holiday celebrations, cultural festivals, exhibitions, concerts, symposiums and commemoration ceremonies.
Information and Promotion Activities: Informing member associations and the public through bulletins, press releases, social media content and digital publications; accurately introducing Türkiye's history, culture and values.
Representation and Communication: To convey the views of the Turkish community and protect their rights by contacting government institutions, media and decision-makers in Canada.
Community Cooperation: Developing joint projects with other ethnic communities and civil society organizations to contribute to Canada's multicultural structure and strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation.
Young Generations and the Future: To raise awareness among the younger generations of the Turkish community to preserve their cultural identity and to encourage them to become active members of Canadian society.
WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN?
KTDF is not only an umbrella organization; it is also the voice of the Turkish community, the protector of its identity, and the bridge builder. Thanks to our work, Turkish Canadians have become more visible across Canada, strengthening their public image. Our cultural and informative activities contribute to a better understanding of Türkiye and Turkish society, while our representative role protects the rights of our community against discrimination and misinformation.
Every activity undertaken today lays the foundation for a stronger, more respected, and more effective Turkish society in the future. While providing solutions to today's problems, KTDF aims to build a stronger social structure for future generations.
MEMBERSHIP AND VOLUNTEERING
Only Turkish associations can become members of the KTDF, thus becoming part of a national collective force. Individuals can volunteer to support the Federation's work, participate in events, and contribute to projects. Everyone who joins the Federation, whether through association membership or volunteering, creates a stronger voice for the future of both the Turkish community and Canada.
